With en-route beacons often required in inaccessible locations, monitoring of the stations can be awkward. The Sitewatch Remote Control and Monitoring System (RCMS) includes a comprehensive set of communication options allowing any beacon site to be monitored.

The interface to the beacons often uses SNMP, but other protocols are supported. Sitewatch Remote Terminal Units (RTU's) can be used at site providing legacy interface protocols and also monitoring for dry contact signals presented by the beacons and ancillary equipment. Monitoring also includes any ancillary equipment such as Standby-power generators, UPS, Radios, and Fire/Intruder systems.

The monitoring data is typically transported over existing TCP/IP networks, but Sitewatch can also use other media such as Mobile-data and LEOS networks.

Sitewatch is used by Airways Corporation New Zealand as a fully integrated control and monitoring system to manage their International Airports and Air-Traffic Control Centres. They have included monitoring of dozens of beacons in hard-to-reach locations on both North and South Islands.
